Riversbend Landscaping & Construction was founded in 1984, when Ray Pitout began providing garden services to the local community. Nine years later, on 1 July 1993, the business was purchased by Roy and Adie Wilkins. Ray – fondly known as “Mr Fix It” – continued to maintain machinery well into his nineties, finally retiring at the remarkable age of 91.
At that time, RBLC employed seven staff members and serviced approximately 200 properties. The business continued to grow steadily, with the acquisition of Ervin Tilly in 2002 and Home & Garden Services in 2014, adding a further 250 properties to our customer base.
Key members of our team have played an important role in shaping the business over the years. Ivor Rule joined in 1999 as field manager, followed by Cindy Croucamp in 2006 as office assistant. Barry Smith came on board in 2014 as field supervisor, and Tina Viljoen joined the team in 2015.
While RBLC is best known for landscaping services, we expanded into house painting in 1997 and construction soon after. We are proud to offer professional painting services to our clients once again. In addition, wood and wire fencing was introduced in 2001, and our fencing can now be seen throughout the residential areas we service.
We are especially proud of our team, with over 40% of our permanent staff having been part of RBLC for between 6 and 25 years – a testament to our strong values and commitment to quality.
On 1 October 2016, the business was acquired by the current owner, Gareth Benson. Since then, Riversbend Landscaping & Construction has continued to grow and strengthen its operations.
Today, our team includes two tree-trimming teams, two landscaping teams, and a specialised painting and construction team. Supported by our skilled and efficient office staff, who manage all client enquiries and coordination, we remain fully committed to delivering reliable, high-quality service to every client we serve.
